Come to HKMS Wednesday Night!! Don't Miss It!!
A Quote from Brooks:
Most youth aggression is non-criminal and consists of name-calling, social exclusion, rumors, etc. These behaviors are inevitable between siblings at home and peers at school. Despite the pettiness of these behaviors, they can do tremendous emotional harm to a student. I teach students how to protect their emotions from the effects of these behaviors through emotional resilience. I also teach them how to respond in a way that stops the aggression immediately.
Navigating the social landscape of middle school can be a whirlwind. Whether it’s managing gossip, social exclusion, or typical peer conflicts, students often feel overwhelmed. Brooks’ approach goes beyond traditional advice; he provides a "resilience toolkit" that helps students:
Manage Emotions: Gain the intelligence to stay calm during difficult social interactions,
Solve Problems: Move from conflict to resolution using proven, practical strategies.
Stop the Bullying Cycle: Learn the exact psychological responses that stop aggression in its tracks.
Resilience starts at home, which is why we are hosting a dedicated evening just for YOU! Please join us to learn how you can support your child’s emotional growth and help them apply these life-changing skills. This event is not for students. It is for parents and guardians only, as his presentation will be geared specifically for that target audience. Don't worry! Dr. Gibbs will be running assemblies for all students in grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 the next day, May 28th!
