One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar...Helen A. Keller

Measuring a Sidewalk

Helen Keller Middle School's New Haven Math Trail

Walk to the corner of the Green at the intersection of Temple Street and Chapel Street (look at the map if you're unsure about which corner this is).  There you will find a path that crosses the Green diagonally, ending across from the Connecticut Financial Center.

Your job is to determine the length of this path without actually measuring it.  To determine the other distances you will need in order to answer this question, you may wish to "pace off" the distances rather than measure them with your tape measure. Count the number of paces carefully and make sure you pace the distances off in even paces of the same length.  You will then need to measure one of your paces to determine its length.
