Students,
Over the next few days you will be making pamphlets with Microsoft Office Publisher. The objective of the pamphlets is to advocate against tobacco, alcohol or marijuana use. You may only choose one. This pamphlet will be aimed at 8th graders who may be beginning to feel pressured into trying tobacco, alcohol or marijuana. Using the What are the Consequences? worksheet, What Would You Do? worksheet and research on the computer you will design this pamphlet using the following criteria:
- Cover page (4 points) - You should include a catchy slogan which advocates against the drug that you chose. You should also include on this page a picture(s) and/or fact(s) about this particular drug.
- Three inside columns (3,3,3 points) - Choose the three most important aspects of the What are the Consequences? worksheet and make a list of reasons why someone should choose not to use drugs. Do not pick Physical/Body because everyone will have the opportunity to list the health effects of the drug in the next section. Each of these columns should also include pictures and/or facts. Make it interesting to the reader and be creative.
- Back fold (4 points) - List the short term and long term health effects of the drug that you chose including a picture(s).
- Back page (3 points) - This is where you would list the resources for help for your particular drug. Include the names, addresses and/or phone numbers of people or places someone can go to for help. You may also choose to add in practical advice on this page. You must also include a formal works cited and your name on this page.
