Task:

modern myth to explain an invention
- a modern myth to explain how a
trademark came to be, or
- a
myth to explain a phenomena in
nature
Purpose:
Students will show their understanding of the elements of mythology,
and students will entertain their peers with their creativity and
imagination.

Your audience is your teacher, your peers, and your parents

Steps to Accomplish
Goal:
- Read models provided in class and
examine them as examples
- Examine rubric for grading policies
- Write a summary of your idea and
discuss with a parent or a peer
- Complete your pre-write to map out
your ideas
- Write your first draft
- Share your first draft with a peer,
parent, or teacher
- Revise and edit your piece to create a
polished copy
- Double spaced
- Typed or written neatly in ink
- ALL DRAFTS (AND PREWRITE) included
- Handed in on time
Your Myth MUST
INCLUDE:
- A problem and solution with a strong
connection to the myth
- Must either:
- Explain a phenomenon in nature
- Explain how a symbol or trademark
came to be
- Explain how a modern invention
came to be
- An organized and descriptive plot
including:
- Characters
- Plot
- Climax
- Setting
- Solution
- Story must include at least two
characters from mythology
- Story must include at least four
characteristics of myths
- At least (3) entries of dialogue
