Definition:

Gang Green is a group of students, encompassing all grades, devoted to establishing a program within the school to promote environmental stewardship.

GOAL:

To raise awareness and knowledge of environmental issues that  are impacting our school, community and world.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To establish key practices in school to promote efficient recycling
  2. To create a paper and bottle recycling program
  3. To reward students and staff who demonstrate environmentally-friendly practices
  4. To create a plan to  collect other recyclable materials

ACTION PLAN:

  1. Collect recyclable materials daily throughout the school (classrooms, offices, and common areas)
  2. Design Environmental Question of the Week open to the entire school community, announced during morning announcements, posted on the school website and available in the main office
  3. Share the answer, with the school, to the Environmental Question of the Week
  4. Create a public service announcement for the local cable access channel to promote recycling
  5. Identify key practices shown by students and staff
  6. Reinforce environmentally-friendly practices among students and staff by awarding them with recognition and a water bottle

Scientific Literacy

Scientific Literacy includes speaking, listening, presenting, interpreting, reading, and writing about science.

Scientific literacy also includes the ability to search for and access the relevance and credibility of scientific information found in various print and electronic media.

Matter and Energy in an Ecosystem

An ecosystem is composed of all the populations that are living in a certain space and the physical factors in which they interact.
