Special Board of Education Meeting: There will be a Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, March 31st starting at 7:30 p.m. in the library media center at Helen Keller Middle School. The meeting will end at approximately 8:15 p.m. The board will then travel to the Easton Senior Center to meet with the Board of Finance at 8:30 p.m. Once again, I urge you to attend these meetings! Be informed as to how the budget decisions (to be made on Wednesday) will impact your child’s 2010-11 educational program.
Easton Learning Foundation Update: This past week, the Easton Learning Foundation received three checks totaling $535. Thank you! The amount still needed to be raised is $31,100. Then, the exciting work of building an engineering lab here at HKMS can begin! The engineering lab will enable our students to engage in ‘real-world’ projects that integrate the fields of technology, science, engineering and mathematics. Any amount that you might be able to contribute is greatly appreciated. Please visit www.eastonlearning foundation.org to donate online or mail in a check to “ELF” PO Box 437 Easton.
End of the Year Awards! To insure consistency among grades, the following criteria will be used to determine end-of-year student awards:
Grade 6 and Grade 7 staff will be awarding High Honors to students achieving 95% and above; Honors will be 90% and above. The Fine and Practical Arts Team will distribute separate awards. FPA grades will not be included in determining High Honors or Honors.
Grade 8 staff will be awarding High Honors to students achieving 95% and above and subject area achievement awards per teacher.
Character awards will be determined by the full staff and will be distributed by Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Kaplan.
The sixth grade award ceremony will be held on June 18 from 7:30 a.m.—8:00 a.m. in the Café.
The seventh grade ceremony will be held on June 22 from 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. in the Café.
