The Helen Keller Jazz Ensemble.
 For the second year in a row, the Helen Keller Middle School Jazz Ensemble won first place in its division at the "Music in the Parks Festival" held at Lake Compounce on Friday, May 29th. Rated  "Excellent," their score gave  larger school districts from both CT and NY great competition.  
HELEN KELLER MIDDLE STUDENTS FOR BEING RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE  GOVERNOR'S SUMMER READING CHALLENGE ... for the 2nd year in a row.
Carrie Twersky won first place in  the “Scenery” category for a contest with National Geographic for Kids International Photography Contests 2008
Juliet Meskers, a 6th grader who received a state-level Honorable Mention for her literature piece.

GEOGRAPHY BEE WINNERS:

Tyler Frank – 1st place
Aine Knott and Ryan Wendt – tied for 2nd place

OUR PAPER REYCYCLING TEAM:

Bryan Gallaer and Kieran Knott and the Easton U11 boys team who won the semi-finals CT Cup.

Samantha King for having her Memoir titled “Good Bye” published in the next issue of Kidswwrite and John Colasante for having his Memoir published in the October issue...on line magazine written by students.

Emily won 3rd place in the Saugus.net Halloween writing contest.
