DIRECTIONS FOR CREATING WORKS CITED

Purpose:  Aligning with 21st Century Skills, students will research selected monuments and memorials with the intent of convincing their audience the value of a personal visit.

CORE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will:

  • Work independently, researching information and collecting images to support their monument or memorial
  • Create a brochure in Publisher incorporating the following information:
    • the reason your monument or memorial is defined as a monument or memorial
    • who designed the monument or memorial
    • how it was made, if appropriate
    • the year it was designed
    • size of monument or memorial
    • the year it was built
    • the year it was dedicated
    • where it is located
    • how one would get to the monument or memorial, including directions
    • the significance of the monument or memorial
    • the reason for your monument or memorial being in existence
    • description (i.e. color, shape, architectural style)
    • the material used to make your monument or memorial
    • special significance to you
    • interesting facts and or stories about your monument or memorial
    • images that show the monument or memorial
  • Take notes on their specific topics.
  • Create a Works Cited using "Word"
  • Apply prior knowledge to the new situation.
  • Analyze and synthesize information.
  • Communicate their findings in an electronic format.
  • Communicate their findings to the class, encouraging and convincing them to visit the monument or memorial.
