| GOAL:
To provide the students with
critical thinking skills necessary to navigate through the world in
which we live.
The American Association of School Librarians has published Standards for the 21st Century Learner. They center around inquiry, critical thinking, acquiring knowledge; drawing conclusions, making informed decisions, applying knowledge to new situations and creating new knowledge; pursuing personal and aesthetic growth, dispositions in action, responsibility and self-assessment. While all of standards are important to the learner of the 21st Century, no one project can incorporate all of them. The projects in the 21st Century course, however, incorporate the following:
- Critical thinking
- Decision-making
- Cooperation and communication
- Independent research
